Education is a shared responsibility among the school staff, students, parents and the community.

Every individual is unique, worthy, and deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.

Students should be provided opportunities through active engagement to develop critical thinking skills, and written skills according to their ability.

Each student is an individual who differs from others in physical development, cultural diversity, needs, and interests, learning capacities, talents and aspirations.

About The School

The History of Flowers Elementary School

Flowers Elementary School was erected in 1960 to meet the needs of a growing population in East Montgomery. At that time, the school served only the population in the immediate vicinity of the school. Later, the school began serving four peripheral areas – Tulane Court, Arrowhead, Lake Forest and Taylor Crossing. Flowers School is presently a neighborhood school. Flowers School was named for James Drury Flowers whose family actively participated in educational and religious endeavors for over 200 years. The Flowers’ family donated $50,000 to Huntingdon College when it relocated in Montgomery, and Flowers Hall was named for them. Mr. Flowers served on the County Board of Education for twenty-one years. Flowers School presently has a staff of 40 dedicated to the total development of each student.
